People have thought up pillows many centuries ago. Their earliest images, which have reached us, are represented with ancient-Egyptian pillows. Pillows accompany us from the very beginning of the life. They are the symbol of heat and coziness.
There were times when the quantity of pillows defined a level of prosperity of the house. They were put on beds as a hill. There were so many pillows in a owner’s bedroom of rich family, that it was almost necessary to put a special bench to shift unnecessary pillows on it, when the owners went to bed.
Later, when rigid armchairs and sofas began to enter into our everyday life, sofa pillows have appeared. They were a prototype of modern upholstery and were considered as a especially functional thing. With arrival of upholstered furniture pillows have not lost their interior role- they have even become an element of an interior, sometimes even, a work of art, as a picture on a wall or a figurine on the shelf. By the way, in Russian manor of pillows were the samples of lordly needlework: they were put in order to modernize and rejuvenate the interior. Pillows are put on the armchairs, sofas, beds and chairs, even on the floor. Pillows are sewed from different fabrics. Presently to a course there is not only traditional velvet, a Gobelin, artificial and natural fur, a leather and guipure are widely used. The choice of fabric is not practically caused by stylistics of an interior.
