Your lunch zone (Part 2)

Sunday, April 8th, 2007

If there is enough space in the kitchen, it is possible to choose a table of any geometrical form, if it only would correspond to the style of an interior and configuration of the kitchen. In the big kitchen, where the equipment is planned along walls, it is desirable to enter a table so that it served good interior accent.
Both round and an oval table would perfectly look in the big kitchen (20 meters square and more). By the way, such tables borrow more place, than rectangular and square models do. And, as a rule, round and oval tables are cut from a working zone and they are not participating in our everyday life. In that case it is a question of stationary lunch group. In the big kitchen the neighborhood of lunch group with an easy show-window for elegant utensils or the small closed element of type of a locker for storage of services, tableware and table linen is recommended. All this will finally generate a place, where you will have a meal, and it will significantly raise its status.
In small kitchen the rectangular table, instead of square is more preferable.
When it is difficult to pick up a table of the necessary configuration and the sizes of a manufacturing, it is possible to order a table in building execution with a table-top of the soft streamline form.
Today especial significance is attached to arrangement of a lunch zone. “Fast food” has bothered, people has pulled to tasty and healthy house food with family. Here, one old, as the world, proverb can be mentioned: anything so does not unite family, as a joint meal does. So, family traditions are again in the center of attention.
When lunch zone is brought to the dining room or to the sitting room, you have more opportunities to arrange it in a special way. For example, it is possible to place lunch group so that nothing distracted you from meal, to make it the aesthetic center of the dining room, to use fashionable materials and so on.

Your lunch zone (Part 1)

Saturday, April 7th, 2007

Organization of lunch zone, as well as arrangement of any other site of kitchen, depends on a way of life of family, its traditions and representations about where it is necessary to eat. Everyone on this account has own opinion. Some people are convinced, that dining room is the only place for acceptance of food there, and kitchen is the working block where the food is prepared. For others - dining table on kitchen is a favorite place of all family. The others have only breakfast on the kitchen, and prefer to have dinner or supper in the dining room or sitting room.
Traditions, way of life, habits influence the organization of kitchen. Even if the family eats in the dining room, the kitchen without an element behind which it is possible to have a bite, will hardly be found. And the other question is whether there will be a high-grade lunch zone here.
Concerning the organization of a lunch zone of kitchen, it can be with a dining table and without it. The first variant assumes closed self-sufficient kitchen. In the second case the working kitchen is united or combined with a dining room or sitting room, where not only Sunday dinners, but also suppers, and breakfasts are being transferred. In that case the space is all opened or it is divided into functional zones. When the kitchen is small and it is difficult to place a high-grade dining table there, the variant of the working kitchen combined with a dining room is very practical. The working part is not restrained. And the dining table (it may be also a sliding table) is transferred to the dining room.
During the last five years the popular variant of the organization of a public zone was most, perhaps, represented by the general open space, including kitchen, table, sitting room and a hall.
Today the tendency of uniting kitchen with sitting room or dining room is not so popular. And kitchens of the closed type are more preferable. Such kitchen assumes the presence of the high-grade functional and lunch zones.

Bowl - a handful of water

Wednesday, April 4th, 2007

The variety of modern bowls can be easily grouped into several categories according to the way of their installation.
Pendant bowl is fixed to a wall bolts or hang on special metal arms. Today these both variants exist on the equal rights.
Bowl on the pedestal. Pedestal carries out a double role. On the one hand it serves as an additional point of a support for a “cup” of the bowl and it is especially important, when the wash stands are fastened to the mechanically “weak” wall. On the other hand, the pedestal decoratively covers armature, a waste pipe and a siphon.
The rabbeted bowl is inserted into an aperture of a table-top of toilette table from above.
The striding-leveled bowl, on the contrary from the rabbeted one, is fastened to an aperture in a table-top from below.
The pedestal of a bowl doesn’t only take up weight massive faience bowl, but it also simultaneously creates standard height from a washstand up to a floor.
Modern bowls without overflow opening can be equipped with CLOU system a-special siphon in which a special overflow opening is represented.

Exercise room at home

Sunday, April 1st, 2007

It is not furniture and it is not home appliances. It can’t be brought to accessories and subjects of a decor. It is not absolutely house attributes. However in modern dwellings all of them become more often an integral part of an interior.
Statistics shows that only 10 % of the population visits fitness-centers on a regular basis. And the tendency, which has outlined today to the device of mini-sports clubs in city apartments and country houses, is worth of all praise.
Let’s consider three variants of accommodation of exercise rooms at home:
1. In the apartment, where it is possible to train only in a bedroom;
2. In the house, where there is a special separate room for a sports exercises;
3. In the big country house where it is possible to arrange own fitness-club in a ground floor.
For a bedroom an optimum variant can be realized in the following developing simulators: elliptic, either a racetrack, or a multipurpose power simulator.
Symbiosis of cardio-and power simulators in a compact variant is capable to provide normal loadings for maintenance in an excellent form of all systems of a human body.
Expenses for purchase of pair harmonious simulators can be within the limits of 450 dollars, and it is possible to place them in the corner behind the wardrobe or under the bed. In this case, the monitor of an intimate rhythm would be even more compact and economic variant. It represents electronic watch which offer readout of time and fix your pulse.
In the separate room made especially for a house sports hall, it is possible to buy not only harmonious, and stationary, but even - more dimensional simulators. They, are, certainly, more expensive, but they are also more reliable and more effective. Concerning cardio stimulators it is necessary to get a rowing, elliptic simulator and a racetrack. Here, you may also place different athletic shells: bars, crossbeams and a bench.
When in a ground floor, except for technical premises, 50-70 more square meters of the free area are devoted to the domestic sport club, you may buy a racetrack and stationary rowing, the minimal set of cardio stimulators for house fitness-club.
If you want to invite friends to your sport center, it is necessary to equip it with multistation for serious power trainings, to organize a zone of free weights.
Benches for a press of a bar, power simulators for development of muscles of legs, athletic shells, the Swedish walls- all this is required to you for equipment of a sports club of which you will be so proud.
Fitness-club at home - are expenses of a high price level. But due to the variety of offers in the market of sports simulators there is an opportunity to make it in the economic variant.

Decorative screens (Part 2)

Saturday, March 31st, 2007

Do you think that the screen is an old-fashioned interior detail? Certainly, it does not play the role of prime necessity. But east skill to transform a daily life in art, and even some kind of ritual, always created special aura around these subjects. So, it is high time for us to combine the advantage and beauty. Whether it will become a useful subject in the house and it will simultaneously represent the original ornament - everything depends only on you. We offer you some ideas on use of screens in an interior.
Screen is a sample of multifunctional. And its different parts can be arranged differently. It is possible to paint it in any color but you should not forget that it should be in harmony with general style of the premise. Choose pertinent colors for the cabinet and more gentle - for a bedroom.
Such property of a screen as mobility is perfectly useful in the kitchen. And if it will be equipped by worthy image, it will appear simply irreplaceable.
To hide and to block it is not yet everything on what the screen is capable. It can “be reoriented” in a rack. It may become almost transparent, but to incur duties on accommodation and storage of things.
Due to the screen the interior design can always be easy, unexpected and mobile.
Here is one more original and simple decision: a screen replacing wardrobe, and a mirror. By means of such simple design it is possible to change an interior of your room almost every day, only moving a screen in different places, that allowing each corner to be repeated again.

Decorative screens (Part 1)

Friday, March 30th, 2007

Screen is an ancient invention, the majority of us have absolutely forgotten about it. It, perhaps, is the most unusual subject of the furniture, exotically brought to the Europe. It can’t be named as furniture and it is more likely a mobile wall or the harmonious screen. The history of “a mobile wall” begins in China, where in VII century first screens have appeared, and in VIII century screens were brought to Japan. To the Europe screens were brought in XVII century, together with a fashion for “all Chinese”. In a duality of its function - hiding something behind shutters or to open it partly - Europeans managed to see not only the decorative effects, but also, the opportunities for rather graceful spatial games. Screens have gained great popularity in XIX-XX centuries. The lay-out of apartments of that time demanded division of vital space into zones, and screens easily coped with this problem, covering everything that should be hidden.
The open spaces of modern apartments (with their principles of zoning) are again looking for a guest from the past. Screen is cheaper than any room-partitition and it can be transferred, put and cleaned. The space organized with its help, can be intended for the most different purposes. This exotic subject takes an honorable place in boudoirs, bedrooms and small sitting rooms, sometimes it separates lunch zone or similarity of office. But the present reason of love to screens is explained by the atmosphere of the absolute solitude.

Dance floor

Monday, March 26th, 2007

The place for dances should be necessarily allocated by means of receptions of zoning. It can be the floor covering which is distinct from that lays in a drawing room, or special registration of walls. We assure you that it is necessary to allocate rather small (from 3 meters square) area at a window in a corner of a room for dancing. This will allow realizing an image of light premise with mirror walls.
Concerning a floor, we advise you to use smooth, but not the slippery material - otherwise the probability of traumas and stretching during employment may increase. Besides the covering should give pleasant tactile sensations to those who prefers to dance barefoot. No matter what dancing style you have chosen, you should necessarily sit and even lay on a floor (at least during warm-up). Therefore the floor should also be warm.
Concerning the walls - the dance hall is inconceivable without mirrors! The mirror wall can become that zone tool which will define borders of your dancing. However irreplaceable during dance of a mirror can break integrity of an interior or simply irritate your friends. In this case it is necessary to think of how to drape a mirror site of a wall. The simplest variant is to cover it with the same curtains, as well as at windows. Thus, the room will have the so-called “false window”. As a result, when the dancing is not used, a cozy cornerб in which it is possible to put an armchair and to be betrayed less to productive leisure, is created.

Entrance door

Saturday, March 17th, 2007

The entrance door is a “face” of the house, giving a clear representation of the social status and tastes of its owners. In the image of the house of an entrance door trifles the special role.
Entrance doors are subdivided onto two greater groups: doors for public and doors for residential buildings.
Very strict requirements on durability are demanded to the entrance doors established in public buildings (especially there where greater streams of people are assumed). The design of doors should be in harmony not only with a facade, but it should also correspond to their purpose. The door in bank could never be similar to a door in a supermarket.
Concerning the entrance doors in premises, they do also have fashion tendencies as well as other elements of interior design. Now the preference is given to modernist style: doors with laconic forms and minimum of ornaments are mostly appreciated. Doors made of tree of pinkish shades - a beech, a sweet cherry recently- are in demand.
Various combinations - both of breeds of a tree, and shades of the same materials look originally. The most courageous owners of apartments get the motley doors decorated with geometrical patterns of different colors. It is possible to order doors with precious metals’ incrustation.
The price is nothing, the quality is above all
It is important to know, that you wish to get from the entrance door. On belief of experts, the price of a door - is not so defining factor at a choice - thus it is much more important from what the door is made and whether is correctly mounted.
The “door” concept includes a door box with a structure, a door itself, a rabbet and a plat band, accessories. A door, first of all, is functional element and its problem is to preserve our habitation from uninvited visitors, and unnecessary penetration of cold and noise.
Durability is provided with a steel skeleton, the edges of rigidity, welded on skeleton steel sheets. The good door cannot be hollow; the heater (mineral cotton wool, polypropylene or other similar materials) is necessarily located.
Thickness of a design which should make not less than 40-45 mm, is considered as key parameter of safety. Experts approve, that safety of a door is better provided with 1-2 good locks, than with 5-6 locks of the average quality.
For all tastes
The century of high technologies offers tree, metal, plastic and glass for making doors.
Wooden doors (of modern designs) are traditionally widely applied in historical building cities, at reconstruction and repair of facades. But it is necessary to note, that such modern materials as structures from PVC and aluminum, and also steel designs allow replacing a tree not only in new construction, but also at reconstruction of buildings since the coverings simulating wood structure are developed for them.
The combined door designs are being more and more widely applied.
Doors can be of one-folding and folding kind, with vertical and horizontal inserts. At their design can be decorated with the elements of glass, including shock-proof and bulletproof materials.

Interroom partitions (Part 2)

Tuesday, March 13th, 2007

There are two types of sliding partitions: monorail and double-track partitions. The first ones are much more comfortable (it is not necessary to spoil a floor to build in an additional rail) though they do not provide absolute sound isolation (as there is a crack between a floor and a partition), but you will agree, that it is completely not obligatory in all premises of the apartment. Therefore they are used only in noisy zones: a hall, kitchen, dining room, sitting room etc.
When we move apart partitions, the sensation that walls disappear and there is a huge space which is looked through as on a palm is created. And then, not leaving a kitchen zone, it is possible to observe children, to welcome visitors and simultaneously to give valuable instructions on table layout for the supper. Thus a sitting room, where someone from members of family watches TV, can be temporarily isolated.
In a silent zone, where the bedroom settles down, sliding partitions or sliding doors are used for division wardrobe from a bedroom or a bedroom from bathroom.
If sliding partitions block space completely stationary partitions serve only for a designation of different functions of the same premises. For example, such partition (glass, plaster, etc.) separate a kitchen zone from dining room, and from kitchen it is used as an additional wall on which kitchen accessories, beautiful utensils, fine subjects of an interior are conveniently placed.
If there is a winter garden in your house two small glass stationary partitions can serve as conditional border for it, not breaking thus of an interior.
Stationary partitions are widely used for allocation of a computer zone in any part of the apartment.
As to bathrooms here partitions which are fastened to a wall and a floor are more often used. They are transparent and separate cabin from other premise. The aluminium partitions filled by glass, will divide a toilet and a bathroom, a bathroom and a boudoir. Besides stationary and sliding partitions in bathrooms decorative partitions from a brick or the special gypsum cardboard reveted by a ceramic tile are widely being used. Forms and furnish can be the diversified (semicircular, figured, with glass inserts, mirrors etc.) and everything depends on the designer’s imagination.

Interroom partitions (Part 1)

Monday, March 12th, 2007

Traditionally, three quarters of premises in the house or an apartment have doors. We like “to soar”, and we incessantly catch at door handles. Gradually it starts to irritate, and there is a desire to re-plan urgently an apartment that the feeling of the “closed space” has disappeared. But it is not necessary to hurry up. Perhaps, it is enough to replace some doors on sliding, and to establish sliding partitions between zones and then there will be an opportunity to change a lay-out of an apartment depending on circumstances and moods. In fact sliding partitions are capable to transform any premise into uniform flowing space which is so desirable sometimes.
Partitions can be sliding, harmonious and stationary; in general they differ only by the design, as their only function relies in transformation of space. Today it is favorite reception in the architecture, allowing to create sensation of greater areas and to reach comfort even in small apartments.
Any partition, first of all, is a cloth from a floor up to a ceiling, made of a strong material (metal or a tree), well designed and more often glazed. If a light, strong and very thin glass of type automobile which is not broken into fine parts is used the partition can consist of a whole glass. The quantity of partitionings depends on constructive opportunities of a structure.
The cloth of a partition can consist of several equally or differently large glass inserts. It relieves the monotony of their design. But the more partitionings are the heavier partition, especially wooden one, becomes. Therefore in some cases not all sections are filled with glass. Such “semitransparent partition” will be easily combined with a kitchen and table zone.
